Intermediate Tracking Seminar
On June 9 & 10 Yankee held an Intermediate Tracking Seminar at the High Ridge Wildlife Management Area. Yankee members who attended were given extensive field and lecture instruction with an emphasis on one-on-one instruction during each field session. Instructors Miles Garrod and Lily Mummert kept the seminar flowing from one session to the next and by the end of the day on Sunday afternoon both handlers and dogs had had their fill of tracking. It was a wonderful weekend all around and we expect to see all the seminar attendees at the spring tracking test looking for a TD title. Thanks to Miles, Lily, Geoff Stern & Rosanne Mandell for all their help. We will be hosting a TDX seminar next year and a beginner seminar if there is ample interest.
Again we want to thank all of you (you know who you are) for the wonderful help you have given us in the past at our TD test and seminar this year. It is all of you who make Yankee’s tracking the success it is. We look forward to seeing many of you, plus new faces, at our next big event for this year: a TD & TDX match to be held September 16 at the Rockingham County Courthouse in Dover, NH. We will be plotting tracks on Saturday, September 15.
Come learn how to lay track, how tests are judged, what is involved in putting on a successful tracking test, what makes a successful dog-human team, etc. Anyone interested in learning how to track should volunteer to lay track.
